Hair Loss: "A" is for Alopecia (Post 4)

Traction Alopecia: Hair loss which occurs from traction or "pulling"
on hair. A large section of African American women suffer from
this form of alopecia.

Traction alopecia is commonly seen with braids (notice hair line in
picture, alopecia resulted from too tight or tension at hair line from braids), pony tails and other hairstyles which create traction on the scalp.

Hair Loss: "A" is for Alopecia (Post 3)

Alopecia universalis or alopecia areata universalis is a medical condition involving rapid loss of ALL hair. It is considered the most severe form of alopecia areata. Hair loss in alopecia universalis occurs all over the body including the scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes.

Alopecia universalis is the rarest form of alopecia known. It is considered an autoimmune disorder. The hair follicles are not dead or "destroyed" they are still alive, but the production of hair has ceased because of the body's autoimmune response to the hair follicles.

Hair Loss: "A" is for Alopecia (Post 2)

Alopecia Totalis is the total loss of hair on the entire head. Different from Alopecia Areata which is characterized in patchy, bald spots on the scalp; Alopecia Totalis covers the "total" area of the scalp for which its name implies.

Its causes are not clear, it is considered to be an autoimmune disorder. Stress is sometimes believed to be a contributing factor to the loss of hair caused by alopecia; however, there are many people who lead relatively stress-free lives who have experienced the symptoms of alopecia.

Hair Loss: "A" is for Alopecia ( Post 1)

There are many different forms of hair loss. The term alopecia simply means "hair loss". It can affect both men and women, children too.

Different Types of Alopecia

Alopecia Areata: Hair loss which occurs in patchy areas on the scalp.

Alopecia Totalis: Hair loss present over the entire scalp.

Alopecia Universalis: Hair loss which occurs over the entire body, including the scalp, eyebrows, etc.

Androgenetic Alopecia: Normal genetic hair loss caused by (DHT) Dihydrotestosterone in men and hormonal factors in women.

Traction Alopecia: This refers to hair loss which occurs due to traction (stress) placed on hair. Traction Alopecia is commonly seen with pony tails, braids, and other styles that produce (pressure, tightness) traction on the scalp.

Today...let's discuss Alopecia Areata-

Alopecia Areata is the name for a condition in which round patches of hair loss appear suddenly. The hair-growing tissue is attacked by the patient's own immune cells for unknown reasons. There are commonly three (3) stages: first, there is sudden hair loss, then the patches of hair loss enlarges , lastly new hair grows back. This process may take months, sometimes more than a year . Rarely, does the hair never grow back.

Free Lace Wigs

Anyone suffering from the devastating effects of hairloss can tell you how alienated they sometimes feel. Undeniably there are number of balding men and women who have embraced their hair less state; however, we must acknowledge the countless number of people who suffer from it.

Understandably, I receive countles correspondence, emails and phone calls from people with hair loss. The majority of inquiries, comments, testimonials have come from women. This issue does not discriminate gender, age, socio-economic standards, ethnicities. It is an equal opportunity hair follicle destroyer. Men and women both can have hair loss issues...even children.

In the coming days, weeks and months we will explore all sides of the hair loss issue and our mission at Trintiy Lace Wigs to assist those who opt for realistic hair replacement.

Hair loss can be a very debilitating condition for some. For instance, I received an email from "Monique" (not her real name, for obvious reasons) who is 21 years old and suffers from Trichotillomania (we will discuss this condition in future posts). She is a very vibrant young women and very optimistic about life until it comes to her hair less state. Monique can not afford therapy, does not have an adequate support system and can not afford to invest in a lace wig. Right now she is wearing a very unflattering synthetic wig we she says make her feel less confident than her sparse locks.

Trinity Lace Wigs is having a contest where three (3) full lace wigs will be given away to 3 lucky entrants. Official rules can be found on our website http://www.trinitylacewigs.com/. One major requirement for this particular contest is that the entrants must have some type of medically related hairloss.

Trinity Lace Wigs: Hello Facebook... | Facebook

Trinity Lace Wigs: Hello Facebook... Facebook: "For months customers, friends and family have been asking when I was bringing Trinity Lace Wigs to Facebook. Why?, I asked. Because, alot of other businesses are doing it? I was never one to do things because everyone else was doin' it. Over the years after hearing your mother ask you, 'if so and so jumped off a bridge, would you jump off after them?' I learned early to observe and learn. So far, its worked out to my advantage.

Still the questions kept coming. Knowing the demands of running a home-based internet business, I did not want to take on another added responsibility unnecessarily...so, I did a little, no alot of research. I researched social media networking. Let me tell you now...I have hit the ground running.

I was well aware of the importance of the internet. That lesson comes day one when the internet is an integral part of your business; however, the blinders came off the more I researched and learned about the world of networking via social media like Facebook, MySp...,Twit...,etc.

I've always believed, it is better late than never! So, here we are on Facebook. Please stay tuned for interesting, informative notes about what is it we do and the services we provide to our customers and the community.

For today, I will give you a KISS (Keep It Simple Sista) so, I bid you 'adieu' for now. Until next time.

STAY TUNED..."
